Listening to Podcasts and Audiobooks to help boost productivity

Over the past week or two, I’ve started getting into Audiobooks. Not just that, but using them as a catalyst to help boost my productivity, I don’t just mean listening to self help books. I mean multitasking.

Listening to books while exercising, on the move or commuting is one of the best ways to consume content while on the go. It’s one of the best discoveries I’ve found to use.

For me, finding time to sit down and read a book is few and far between. Obviously the lockdown now provides that time which helps, but soon we’ll (hopefully) be on the way out of the lockdown sometime soon.

Some examples I use for utilising my audiobooks or podcasts are:

  • Walking the dog - This usually gives me 45-60 minutes of good, solid listening time without distractions. Usually podcasts or a short audiobook
  • Commuting to and from work (And also driving anywhere) - I only live about 15 mins away from work so I don’t usually get a huge amount of listening time in, so I usually listen to small, bite size podcasts
  • Sitting in the sun in the garden or on holiday - I’ll usually use this time for audiobooks
  • While playing a ‘casual’ game - I often play casual games such as Hearthstone where I don’t really need to provide much brain power, so I’ll stick on a podcast or audiobook

Next week, I’ll talk through some of my favourite podcasts that I listen to.

Thanks for reading!

Rob
